Information about my beliefs and Wheel of the Year

I was a strong believer in the Catholic / Christian religion till recently when I realized that I am more spiritual then religious and I like to praise nature and the seasons more than reading the bible.  Dont get me wrong, I respect everybody's beliefs and I know for a fact that I will get people commenting on this but my beliefs are my beliefs.

Also I believe in the Sabbaths: connection between the God and Goddess and the Esbats the changing of the moon and seasons.  So today I will briefly touch on the Wheel of the year and why we ( people like me) . So enjoy! Since I am pressing for time today I will do the esbats on another time.

Sabbaths:

October 31:  Samhain - Witches New Year
Celebrate those who passed on and it is when the veil of the afterlife lifts. Even though                            it  sounds scary it is very peaceful and calm

December 21: Yule-    The rebirth of the Great God ( newborn solistic sun)

February  2:    Imbolc- Associated to the Goddess Bridgit and is one of the 4 fire festivals. Tradition
                                     traditional for initations

March 21:       Ostara-  Rejoining of the Goddess Mother and her consert

May1:              Beltane- 2nd fire festival.  Ritual union of the Goddess and the God

June 19:          Litha:      one of the four solar holidays

August 1:         Lammas: One of the two harvest festivals. The other two is Samhain and Mabon.
                         First fruits of the harvest

May 21:            Mabon:     Thanksgiving

If you have any suggestions please let me know.

Tribute to Whitney Houston

Growing up I always enjoyed every one of her songs and I was shocked and saddened to hear that she passed away.  I was to busy last Wednesday to write a tribute to her but I guess it is better late then never.

Whitney  Elizabeth Houston: August 9, 1963 - February 11, 2012
Also known as "Nippy", "The Prom Queen of Soul"

She was the daughter to Sissy Houston who was a gospel singer and Whitney started singing in her United Church in her home town in Newark New Jersey where at the end her own funeral was held at. In 1978 she was a backup singer for her mother in the song "I'm Every Woman" and also took up modeling for a while. Her first album was in 1985 and "she won six grammies".  In 1992 she did acting for the first time with "The Bodyguard" and married Bobby Brown then had a daughter Bobbi Kristina. She started using drugs in 1993 and was a using daily in1996. She divorced Bobby Brown later and got custody of her daughter. She went into rehab twice but on February 11, 2012 she was found dead in a Beverly Hills hotel room and her funeral was very privete with family only. She will be very missed.

Winter Fun

I was looking outside today and watching the snowfalling softley and wishing that I could do something, anything out in the snow. Really I wanted to do snowangels, make a snowman anything but since I am an adult my neighbours would think that I am not thinking correctly. Still I want to write about some activities that you can do by yourself, your spouse, or your children.

1. Have a snowball fight.
2. Take food coloring and make a painting in the snow.
3. Make a snowperson or snow sculpture
4. Make snowy hopscotch: by using foodcolor for paint make the hopscotch grid, put numbers there and use a snowball for a rock
5.

    Buddhism and Mantras

First I will give you a little overview of Buddhism before I give you some mantras ( chants) that you can use. The very first buddha was Buddha €

I will give you a short overview of Buddhism then I will tell you of some mantras ( chants ) that I used to use. The first Buddha was a prince named Siddhārtha Gautama Buddha and after realizing the suffering that his parents were protecting him from he realized that his richeness didnt mean anything to him and he left them. This took place aroun 563 BCE. His title means " The awakened one", "the supreme buddha".
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gautama/Buddha

The Goddess of Buddhism is the Tara. The Green Tara is known for help through enviromental challenges an the White Tara is known for compassion and hope in time of illness. She is known as the " Mother of all Buddhas" and she is known for love and compassion. She holds in her hand a lotus which has the meaning of
    "the three buddhas".
The prayer for the Green Tara is below:
On a lotus seat, standing for realization of voidness,
    (You are) the emerald-colored, one-faced, two-armed Lady
In youth's full bloom, right leg out, left drawn in,
Showing the union of wisdom and art - homage to you!

Like the outstretched branch of the heavenly turquoise tree,
Your supple right hand makes the boon- granting gesture,
Inviting the wise to a feast of supreme accomplishments,
As if to an entertainment-homage to you!

    Your left hand gives us refuge, showing the Three Jewels;
It says, "You people who see a hundred dangers,
Don't be frightened-I shall swiftly save you!"
    Homage to you!

Both hands signal with blue utpala flowers,
"Samsaric beings! Cling not to worldly pleasures.
Enter the great city of liberation!"
    Flower-goads prodding us to effort-ho

mage to you! ---First Dalai Lama (1391-1474

These use Prayer beads to help meditate which consists of 108 beads.

    Some Mantras are:

  • May all beings be happy - sabbe sattā sukhi hontu
  • Dharma doors - oṃ tāre tuttāre ture mama āyuḥ puṣṭiṃ kuru svāhā.
    • puñya - merit
    • jñāna - wisdom
    • karunā - compassion
    • vīrya - energy, vitality, or courage.
    • kṣānti - fore
This is said to be the last words of Buddha

va ya dha mmā saṃ khā rā
a ppa mā de na saṃ pa de thā
    vayadhammā sankhārā

    Handfasting Wedding

A handfasting wedding is usually done in traditions such as Wicca. I decided to include this into it since today is Valentines Day: A day of love, what better way to express love then through marriage.

    Celebrant:

Greetings friends and family and welcome to this day of celebration. We are united to witness the marriage of <Name> and <Name>. We've been invited to share in the commitment they make to each other today. They ask your blessing on this joyful occasion.

If life has any meaning to us at all, it possesses it because of love. Love enriches our human experience. It is the reason for the peace in the family and the peace of the peoples of the Earth. A meeting between two beings who are made for each other is a beautiful miracle.

<Name> and <Name>'s understanding of the true meaning of marriage has resulted from many influences; their families, their friends, and each of their own personal beliefs. We are here not only strengthen the binds of <Name> and <Name>'s love for each other but also to bring family and friends together to celebrate these same said bonds that hold us all together.

What defines <Name> and <Name>'s love today will change and grow to new depth in the future. It takes three seconds to say I love you, but it can take a lifetime to show it. This ceremony is the celebration of a single stage in a much larger process that is the love between husband and wife. The promises made today and the ties that are bound here greatly strengthen your union. They will cross the years and lives of each soul's growth.

Do you seek to begin this ceremony?

    Couple:

    Yes we do.

    Celebrant:

The human soul shares characteristics with all things divine. It is this belief which assigns virtues to the cardinal directions; North, South, East and West. Let us offer a traditional blessing in support of this hand-fasting ceremony.

Blessed be this union with the gifts of the East: communication of the heart, mind, and body, fresh beginnings with the rising of each sun, and the knowledge of growth found in the sharing of silence.

Blessed be this union with the gifts of the South: warmth of hearth and home, the heat of the heart's passion and the light created by both to lighten the darkest of times.

Blessed be this union with the gifts of the West: the deep commitments of the lake, the swift excitement of the river, the refreshing cleansing of the rain and the all encompassing passion of the sea.

Blessed be this union with the gifts of the North: firm foundation on which to build, fertility of the fields to enrich your lives, and a stable home to which you may always return.

Now I ask the couple to look into each others' eyes.

    Celebrant to groom:

    Will you cause her pain?

    Groom:

    I May

    Celebrant to groom:

    Is that your intention?

    Groom:

    No

    Celebrant to bride:

    Will you cause him pain?

    Bride:

    I may

    Celebrant to bride:

    Is that your intention?

    Bride:

    No

    Celebrant to both:

Will you share each other's pain and seek to ease it?

    Both:

    Yes

    Celebrant to both:

And so the binding is made. Join your hands.

The first cord is draped across the bride and grooms hands.

    Celebrant to bride:

    Will you share his laughter?

    Bride:

    Yes

    Celebrant to groom:

    Will you share her laughter?

    Groom:

    Yes

    Celebrant to both:

Will both of you look for the brightness in life and the positive in each other?

    Both:

    Yes

    Celebrant:

And so the binding is made.

The second chord is draped across the couple's hands.

    Celebrant to bride:

    Will you burden him?

    Bride:

    I may.

    Celebrant to bride:

    Is that your intention?

    Bride:

    No

    Celebrant to groom:

    Will you burden her?

    Groom:

    I may

    Celebrant to groom:

    Is that your intention?

    Groom:

    No.

    Celebrant to both:

Will you share the burdens of each so that your spirits may grow in this union?

    Both:

    Yes

    Celebrant:

And so the binding is made.

Drape third chord across the couple's hands.

    Celebrant to bride:

    Will you share his dreams?

    Bride:

    Yes

    Celebrant to groom:

    Will you share her dreams?

    Groom:

    Yes

    Celebrant to both:

Will you dream together to create new shared realities?

    Both:

    Yes

    Celebrant:

And so the binding is made.

Drape fourth chord across the couple's hands.

    Celebrant to groom:

    Will you cause her anger?

    Groom:

    I may

    Celebrant to groom:

    Is that your intention?

    Groom:

    No.

    Celebrant to bride:

    Will you cause him anger?

    Bride:

    I may.

    Celebrant to bride:

    Is that your intention?

    Bride:

    No.

    Celebrant to both:

Will you take the heat of anger and use it to temper the strength of this union?

    Both:

    We will.

    Celebrant:

And so the binding is made.

Drape fifth chord across the couple's hands.

    Celebrant to bride:

    Will you honour him?

    Bride:

    I will

    Celebrant to groom:

    Will you honour her?

    Groom:

    I will

    Celebrant to both:

Will you seek to never give cause to break that honour?

    Both:

    We shall never do so.

    Celebrant:

And so the binding is made.

Drape sixth chord across the couple's hands, and tie all chords together while saying.

    Celebrant:

The knots of this binding are not formed by these chords but instead by your vows. Either of you may drop the chords, for always you will hold in your own hands the making or breaking of this union.

Once the chords are tied together they are removed.

    Celebrant:

Spirit of Love, may <Name> and <Name> know great love together, and may they live in the desire to always support each other in positive and uplifting ways. May they strengthen one another in sorrow, share with one another in gladness, and be companions to each other in times of silence. May their home be a haven, and wherever they are plagued by changing fortune, may they be united not in word and outward form alone, but by the presence in the hearts of each, of the deepening love they share. You are husband and wife. Celebrate with a kiss

    History of Valentines Day

People have thought I would say that Valentines Day was a Christian holiday because it was known by St. Valentine. There were many legends about this particular day and what it all meant. Some say that he was a priest during the third centurary in Rome and when the emperor  found out that he was performing ceremonies of marriage in secret even though he was  told not to since back then it was believed that soldier would work better single then with families, he was put to death.
Another legend was that Valentine was put to death for helping the Romans escape the harsh jails in Rome. Others believe that he was in jail and fell inlove with a young woman possibly a guards daughter and started giving her valentines. However some believe that the Christians took over the pagan religion Lupercalia which is celebrated on February 15 and it is suppose to symbolize fertility.  It is also to celebrate the Gods Lupercus and Faunus which is the God of Agriculture. One part of the ceremony of Luperacalia is that the girl would put the name in the jar and the boy would pick it. It is believed that they would marry someday. They would stay together for the rest of the festival.

    Queen Rania of Jordon

As long as I can remember I have been fasinated by royalty no matter what country they came from. Grant it, its usually the England Royal Family but this Queen seemed to catch my attention again and again. I did some research on this so I know that it is correct that she is the youngest queen in the world and she was born in 1970. The King and Queen met at a company for Apple Computers.   She is known as the Queen Consort of Jordon and is the wife of King Abdullah 2 of Jordon. His father died shortly after they were married. His uncle was appointed to be King but this changed when his father was on his deathbed. The Queen was only 28 years old.  The current Queen and King  do have children and has one son and three daughters.  Queen Rania is known for charity work, her youtube channel, facebook and twitter. She is also part of UNICEF. She known  for her powerful voice in Jordon and has a degree in business administration. She knows how to speek Arabic.

    Italy

Long before I met the love of my life I always wanted to go to Italy, both to Florence and to Venice. I decided to write two places since in my heart I couldnt decide which one to choose. ( Yeah, I am in that kind of mood)

Venice Italy is suppose to be the most romantic city in Italy  and was founded in 421 AD and a cathedrial was build in 639 AD and there are bridges built to link parts of this city together that stands to this day. In 726 Orso lpato castle was built but now it is the location of St. Marks Square.
This city is known as " the city of water" . The classical boat that is mostly used for special occasions the "gonodola" and it usually has seats that are velvet and the rugs are persion. It is usually very lavous. Aside from special occasions tourists usually use these as well and they usually travel down the canels of this city with a rower in the front. There are other transportation such as a water bus called "vaporetti", flights, trains and cars.

There is still a palace called the Dodge Palace that stands to this day. It was severly burnt in 1977 though. In the ally ways of Venice Italy is known to be haunted and it is said that if you go down there you would be stuck in a time loop.

Florence Italy is in Tuscany Italy. You will live in the years of the renaissance and it is known for its enchanting museums." It is known to be the most important cities in Europe from Middle Ages to the Renaissance." Florence is known for the museams, churches, places and monuments.  One of the most known places is the "Cathedral of Santa Maria del fiore"  There is one bridge that connects the modern part which is discussed above to the oldest part of Florence Italy which is called " Oltrarno"  The whole city is known for artists

    Amulets and its Purposes

A friend of mine who occasionally visits this blog mentioned to me just in conversation that he/she would be intrested to know more about me. Since this individual knows almost everything about me I really had to think long and hard about that but this topic came to mind.

Ever since I was a young child before I knew that there was such thing as pendents that could give you good luck or to protect you I always thought in my childlike state that this was the case.  Growing up with my parents we had these lamps that had a glass chandiller hanging from it. I remember to this day taking the glass drops off them, blessing them, and wearing them around my neck thinking it would give me good luck and protection. To my dismay it didnt work and all it did was upset my parents because one or two of them would be taken off on a weekly basis. When I got older I realized that there was such a thing as good luck charms, magical purposes for them and to protect you. At that point I got fasinated by gemstones, fairies, angels, etc that I knew would protect me and work for other purposes. From then on I researched as much as I could and found out that every religion got some amulet: Christians got the cross, angels, saints; Buddhism: Buddha, Lotus etc; Jews: Star; Hinduism: God/Goddess; Wicca: God/Goddess, Tree of Life, Penticle, Cats, Moon/Star/Sun, etc. The list can go on and on and on.

Some gemstones that I used which I found in the Crystal Bible are:

Tormouline: Protects, Scrys, good direction to move in, grounds spiritual energy
Tigers Eye: Placed on the third eye it enhances psychic abilities
Taktite: enhance communication with the other worlds ( very rare gemstone)
Rhodochrosite: It enhances selfless love and compassion.

I hope you enjoyed reading this blog as much as I enjoyed reading. Cant wait to hear your comments. Another one tommorow I promise

    Great Molasses Flood

When I first heard about this I have to say that I was skeptic if this was true or not but I did some research and it is indeed very true and tragic.

It started out like any ordinary day in the northern part of Boston for about 14000 individuals who lived there most of them Italien.  There was a company there that used molasses for ingredients for alcohol products which was a common thing in those years. Near Commercial Street there was a huge tank full of Molasses that collapsed and there were approximetely 150 injured and 21 got killed mostly because it was up to their waists and they kept sinking. The molasses went through the streets at approxametley 56 km / hr. and it was approximately " 2.5 and 4.5 m high". There was a lawsuit with The United States Industrial Alcohol Company because they failed to perform the safety checks on the tank.
Even though it is now a recreational center there is a plaque that reminds people
    of that day.

There is more information at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boston_Molasses_Disaster
There is also a book out called "Dark Tide: The Great Molasses Flood"

A special surprise for a special friend

A friend of mine told me the other day that he checks out my site everyday and I wanted to do something nice for him since he has been there for me through thick and thin. He is a huge fan of Michael Jackson so I decided to do a tribute to him for Friday.

    Michael Jackson ( August 29th 1958 - June 25, 2009)

Michael was born the 7th child of the Jackson family and he played with them as the Jackson 5 then the Jacksons from 1964 but he ended up going along in 1971.  He was known for his dancing, music, and business. He even made it into the Guiness Book of Records. Some of his famous sons were Billie Jean and Thriller. In 1984 while he was shooting a commercial for Pepsi he suffered burns on his face and that is when he started using painkillers and got dependent on them, this was also the first time he had plastic surgery. A few years later he opened up "Neverland" where there was animals, fair rides and invited children in there. He also contributed a large number of money to different associations that really needed it. In the 1990's he married Lisa Marie Presley but they divorced a couple of years after. On the same year that he divorced Lisa Marie Presley he married Debbie Rowe and they had two children Prince and Paris when they divorced he got full custody. With Prince 2 the mother is still unknown. He did go to court for specific reasons but he wasnt guilty but it hurt his finances greatly and at the end he had to give up "Neverland" the one place he felt like he was at home. One thing that he got known for was his white sequence glove. He was suppose to do a concert in England in July 2009 but he died of cardiac arrest June 25, 2009 and he was rushed to the hospital but there was no way in saving him. "The King of Pop" died at the hospital that day.  Only recently did his doctor was charged for his murder.

    Rest in Peace Michael Jackson!!!

    Wolfville, NS: My dream place

I used to go to this place every summer for years and I miss it sooo much and wish that I could return to it someday.  This place is in Wolfville N.S. about 100 kms away from Halifax and one thing I remember is going there by train! ( It stopped running 2 years before my last trip there). Its a small town of apporximately 3,772 people with willow trees, a main street which oddly enough only seems to rain on one side of the street and it is always the same side, very friendly people, unique shops that when I used to visit there, there was a mexician clothing store etc. I cant find very much  on the stores now but there is a place called the Bamboo store and loads of restraunts. There is also a place called the Library Pub. Its also  the home of Acadia University and even though its extremmly hot in the summer it was an awesome place to visit even though it was centered in the middle of a farming area. To go to a mall you had to take a bus to New Minas which was about 1/2hr. away but it was worth a ride.  When I was there the mayor was Mr. Townsend ( a very nice man) and they also ran the cottages that I used to stay in Roselawn Cottages ( now called Roselawn Lodging). The family was really nice and to this day I really missed them. I am not even sure if they live there anymore. The history behind Wolfville is that it was called Mud Creek and it was changed because the granddaughters of the postmaster convinced him that a more suitable name should be given. However later on I heard that it was in honour of Elisha DeWolf so I am not sure which one is true.  Grand Pre is close by which I used to love and Michelle Doucette actually has a book about it if anyone ever wants to check it out.  Its called a Travel in time to Grand Pre. I am reading it now and its an awesome book. I recommend it to anyone. I am sorry that this is short but due to personal reasons I cant write a long article today.

This is the famous park that I used to go to Willow Park because its mostly willow trees in Wolfville.

    Have a great day

    Romantic Date without leaving home

Being in the month of February and with Valentines Day coming up I decided to dedicate at least one day per week to bring some romantic ideas that could be done on a tight budget since so many people ( me included) is in that position. So lets get started:

1.Think of a place that your loved one would always want to see and be creative and make it look like that place. It could be as simple as the beach or as complicate as Paris.
    2. Write a love poem or letter for your loved one and give it to her/him during a candlelight dinner.
    3.  See if you have a romantic song on your computer, laptop, or cd and ask your loved one to have a dance with you.
    4. Have a romantic movie night together, dont forget to turn your cell off!!!
    5. If you can draw or paint do up a piece of artwork, if not make a romantic college
    6. Make a short story of how you two met and some events that happened in your relationship
    7. If you are good of writing songs write a song for your loved one.
    8. Make  "Love Coupons" and give it to your loved one
    9. If your partner knows a different language learn I love you in that language and a few sentences ( romantic ones)
10.Just take the night and talk about lighthearted stuff and laugh.

    More Coming I Promise!!!

How to Meet Your Spirit Guides ( Parental Advisory)

First of all I want to clarify to whoever is reading this, that I personally think that its ok to meet them whatever the age however I had to put up the parental advisory so parents wouldnt get angry with me for having their children reading this.

Now thats clear I have always believed in angels, spirit guides and loved ones looking out for me at any hour of the day and night. It always gives me great comfort and peace. So I thought that I should show those who have the same beliefs how to meet their spirit guide.

    Before you begin:

    1. Treat them like ordinary people and always say please and thank you
    2. They like to be treated with respect and usually have a good sense of humer
    3. Get to know your guide and their quirks
    4. Dont be dependent on communication with your spirit guide
    5. communication is on their terms and to help you 24/7
    6. They will not be summoned for trivial questions
    7. Dont be concerned if you dont meet the guide the first try

    Lets begin:
    1. Set the atmosphere for the meditiation without distractions
    2. Ground and placing protection around  yourself
    3. Concentrate on your breathing, deep and slow, good energy in with each breath and bad energy out with each breath 1 minute then steady your breathing
    4. Clear your mind and allow the scene to unfold in your minds eye
    5. Visualize yourself in a beautiful wide open space that envokes happy memories calm, peace, and contentment
    6. See yourself as truly being there with all your senses
    7. The sun is warm on your face and you look up, close your eyes and basking its glow
    8. Focus on the landscape in the distence
    9. Soon you see a shape in the distence and you smile
    10. The shape is your guide. Remember they have come with love and peace so introduce yourself they bring no harm
    11. AS they come closer they may walk or glide
    12. You will see their features: eye color, markings, appearence, clothing
    13. You can walk with them if you wish.
    14. You may find yourself remember memories that you have spent with your guide or previous lives guide
    15. Remember they will never bring you harm
    16. They might embrace you or call you by name
    17. If you are a little bit sceptic the guide might ask you a question or challenge you
    18. Ask a question or two but be thoughtful
    19. By looking into the guides eyes you come to realize that you can solve problems of yours, they love you unconditionally and will always be with you
    20. Take time to be with your guide. Sometimes communicating sometimes silent
    21. Take a few moments to thank your guide
    22. They usually talk symbolically, give you something, show you something
    23. Its now time to say goodbye through an embrace or wave
    24. You have no feelings of sadness to see them go, you look around , it looks the same but feels lighter, brighter when you come to the present
    25. You have more energy then you ever know you had, you are happier and can return back whenever you want to
    26. You are back home
